The children leave St Vincent’s knowing that they have a special purpose in the world and responsibility towards others, both in their community and beyond. This is reflected by the positive impact they have through their charitable work, their contributions to the celebration of the word at school and mass at Our Lady Help of Christians, and their reflective work they demonstrate in their RE books and the big books that each class has.
We assess the children’s development and progress in RE through oral responses, creative and written work. Children are assessed each term, the same as other core subjects. Moderation is carried out to support teaches in making accurate judgements which are then recorded. These in depth assessments enables teachers to plan accordingly, catering for the needs of every child in their class. There are high expectations for the quality of their written work. Parents are informed of their child’s progress in RE through parents evening and end of year school reports.
The children at St Vincent’s enjoy learning in RE and make links between their own lives, the life of Jesus and those of others in their community, locally and worldwide. They demonstrate kindness, compassion and love for one another through modelling the school’s values of Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Curiosity, Resilience and Aspiration. They recognise what it means to be a witness of Christ.
